1. Search in general

• Content searched: There is an individual search for each language version. If a search is conducted within the English content of www.arbeitsagentur.de, then only documents of the English version are considered, irrespective of the language of the search term.
• Exact character sequence: The exact character sequence entered is searched. No terms containing the character sequence will be found.
  Example: The search for "employment agency" produces no results containing the terms "employment agencies".
• Capitalisation: A differentiation between lower and upper case letters is not necessary. Both lower and upper case spellings of the search term will be found.
  Example: The search for the search terms "ARGES -- Working Group in accordance with section 44b SGB II", "ARGEs-- Working Group in accordance with section 44b SGB II" and "Arges -- Working Group in accordance with section 44b SGB II" always produces the same results.
• Large number of results: In case of more than 200 results, only 200 results are displayed in the results list. To improve the search result, limitations (search term, topicality) can be made in the advanced search.
• Special characters: A search for special characters ($, § @, €, etc.--et cetera) is not possible.

2. Key word search

• Automatic "and" search: If several search terms are entered into the search field, only results containing all search terms are shown. Entry of functional characters like "+", "und" or "and" is not necessary.
• Search parameters:
  For the key word search the following parameters are set:
  • Topicality: All results are displayed irrespective of topicality.
  • Results per page: Five results are shown per page.

3. Advanced search

The preset search parameters can be changed in advanced search.

• Search field "with all these words": If search terms are entered in the search field "with all these words", only results containing all search terms are shown. Entry of functional characters like "+", "und" or "and" is not necessary.
• Search field "with this exact wording": If search terms are entered in the search field "with this exact wording", only results containing this exact wording are shown. Marking wording with quotation marks is not necessary.
• Search field "with any of these words": If search terms are entered in the search field "with any of these words", all results containing at least one of the search terms are shown. Entry of functional characters like "o", "und" or "or" is not necessary.
• Search field "without these words": If search terms are entered in the search field "without these words", only results that do not contain any of the search terms are shown. Entry of functional characters like "-", or "without" is not necessary.
• Topicality: Results can be limited by help of topicality. Only results that originate from the selected period of time are shown in the results list.
• Results per page: The number of results per page can be determined individually. The determination is made by selecting the corresponding value in the drop-down menu "Results per page".
