For one week in one-hour slots between 6.00 pm and 9.00 pm, companies will be providing a very compact initial insight into the framework conditions surrounding apprenticeships or dual studies, their corporate culture, and the opportunities for young employees after they successfully complete an apprenticeship or dual studies at the company. Current apprentices and students on the dual studies programmes will also explain how they passed the application process and how they have fared during their apprenticeship or dual studies.

Daniel Terzenbach, Chair of the Regions at the BA: “At its premiere at the start of the year, approximately 15,000 people participated in the digital parents’ evenings. The format was generally well received. Families can find out about the participating companies, the various apprenticeship occupations, and the dual studies opportunities on a virtual and straightforward basis and wherever they are. Parents are important advisors in their children’s career choices, which is why we want to involve them directly via the digital parents’ evenings. Young people can also learn directly from young employees at the respective companies about how the apprenticeships or dual studies are organised in practice. We are also very happy that another 30 companies are taking part in the second week of the digital parents’ evenings.”

In August, throughout Germany, 76,300 applicants were still trying to find an apprenticeship. At the same time, several companies are also trying to find apprentices. Even though the apprenticeship year has already started, young people can still start an apprenticeship.

At 6.00 pm on 28.09.2023, the BA will be presenting an event on how the BA careers service supports young people with their decision-making processes on leaving school and before they enter the world of work.

Information about the digital parents’ evenings, the participating companies and the dates are available on the website Digital parents’ evenings week (available in German).
