Child benefit during studies - now simply apply online

From now on, the parents can process the further approval of the child allowance online for their students.
27 Aug 2018 | Press Release No. 21

From now on, the parents can process the further approval of the child allowance online for their students - without bureaucracy. They no longer have to fill out forms. The proof of study can be submitted online.

"Many parents know this painfully: Although child benefit has been paid for the child for many years before, they have to fill out many forms of the family fund again when the child starts studying after finishing school. That's over now. With our new online service it goes faster, one saves time and annoying authority ways. The submission of a form with signatures is not necessary, so that the process is absolutely bureaucratic," says Karsten Bunk, head of the Family Fund of the Federal Employment Agency. "This year we have already sent around 450,000 letters to our customers with an individual access code.

This is how the new online procedure works

If a child's school education ends, the family fund writes to their parents. The letter now also contains an individual access code and a reference to the online portal of the Family Fund in addition to the information on further child benefit payments. On the website, parents enter their personalised usage code. This automatically displays existing data of the parents or the child; they no longer have to be entered. The new online portal of the Family Fund also makes it easy to upload and submit your study certificate. Since all offers of the family cash are optimised for Smartphone and Tablet, this goes even simply from on the way.

Persons entitled to child benefit who have already been contacted but do not currently have proof of study for their child can also use the access code to hand in the certificate of study.
