Annelie Buntenbach, Chairwoman of the Board of Governors and spokeswoman for the employers’ representatives said: “If the Employers’ Group in the BA Board of Governors declare the vote of no confidence in the BA Board member proposed by themselves to the Board, there is no viable basis for the further activities of the Board. However, this is inevitable given the tough challenges confronting the BA precisely in these times of structural change.
The Employers’ Group regrets that no amicable solution could be found, and campaigned for such a solution right to the end. The Board of Governors will make a timely request to the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs to propose a successor to complete the BA Board.”

Peter Clever, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Governors and spokesman for the employers’ representatives said: “Today’s decision of the Board of Governors to deselect a Board member marks the end of a conflict that has unfortunately become necessary. We regret that Ms. Holsboer rejected the offer from the Employers’ Group to hold discussions to seek an amical solution with the person involved.
It is now time for us to again focus on the tasks of the BA and to look ahead. The qualification of employees for new and demanding advisory functions, the future-oriented establishment of entrance zones and customer centres for employment agencies are long overdue.”

Elisabeth Neifer-Porsch, spokeswoman of the group of public bodies said: “We think this development is extremely regrettable, and thank Ms. Holsboer for her excellent work in the post.”

The Board of Governors is expected to appoint the successor to the Finances and Human Resources section of the Board in autumn.
