When you report yourself as unemployed, you have to confirm your identity. In the past, this was usually done by coming to your local Agentur für Arbeit for an in-person appointment. However, as a consequence of the Corona crisis, we have had to increasingly restrict in-person unemployment reporting and would like to temporarily offer you online identification.
With the selfie identification procedure, you can confirm your identity quickly, easily and securely online. There is then no need to report in person to your local Agentur für Arbeit. If you do not wish to identify yourself online, you do not have to do anything. The Agentur für Arbeit will automatically send you an in-person appointment at a later date.
Some Jobcenters also offer the possibility for claimants of unemployment benefit II to identify themselves online via selfie identification.
Important: Please wait for written information from your Agentur für Arbeit or Jobcenter. The letter contains explanations about the selfie identification procedure and confirms that you can use it with immediate effect.
If you have not yet been able to report yourself as unemployed in person since March 16, 2020 you will be receiving your letter with information on the selfie identification procedure soon.

Why is my data stored?

Is my data secure?
As a service provider for the Federal Employment Agency, Nect GmbH must ensure data security within the scope of the contractual relationship. To this end, it is obligated, for example, to establish at least the same level of data protection within the framework of so-called technical and organisational measures as you are used to from the Federal Employment Agency. This means that even when using the selfie identification procedure, your data will always be collected and stored in accordance with the data protection principles and IT security standards.
