The "BundID": secure access to all online services

Use the online services of the Employment Agencies, the Job Centres and the Family Benefits Office simply and securely.

Why the "BundID"?

Customers can also use the "BundID" ("Federal ID") to register or log in to the portal of the Federal Employment Agency.

Depending on which online service of the Employment Agency, the Job Centre or the Family Benefits Office you wish to use, the online service may require you to log in with your “BundID”, for example to change your bank details or address.

Tipp:Tip: More and more authorities are using the "BundID" as secure access to their online services. Set up a "BundID" account with the online ID card now and benefit from this and other advantages.

Confidence levels, means of identification and session duration

Confidence levels

A confidence level indicates what degree of trustworthiness is associated with a certain means of identification. The higher the confidence level, the higher the trustworthiness. Confidence levels can only be achieved by logging in with your "BundID". You will be shown whether a confidence level is required for certain online services or a specific service.

Confidence levels are currently only relevant for private individuals.

Authentification methods

Which confidence level you achieve by logging in via your "BundID" depends on the authentification method chosen within your "BundID". A means of identification is the way in which your personal data is determined. "BundID" supports two confidence levels and the corresponding means of identification:

Confidence level "substantial"

You achieve this confidence level by using the "ELSTER certificate" access type and individual "EU identities".

Confidence level "high"

You achieve this confidence level by using the "online ID card" access type and individual "EU identities". The "online ID card" category includes the ID card with online function, the electronic residence permit and the eID.

Session duration

Sessions are limited in time depending on the confidence level and require a new login after expiry. The session duration with the confidence level "high" is 30 minutes, with the confidence level "substantial" it is 120 minutes and with the basic registration it is 720 minutes. A session in the app can last up to 30 days. You can see in the new profile bar whether you are logged in to a session and with what confidence level. You will also always receive a notification here 30 minutes before your session expires.

Marking of and access to sensitive information

Depending on which account (Federal Employment Agency or "BundID") and means of identification you are logged in with, you may not be able to access some information as a higher confidence level is required. The relevant information is marked with a shield symbol. After clicking on the corresponding shield symbol, you will be guided through a step-by-step process to establish the required confidence level.

How do I log in with the "BundID"?

The respective online services or the login page offer you the option of logging in with the "BundID". If you choose this option, you will be redirected to the "BundID" page. Log in with the desired option – preferably with the online ID card. You will then be redirected back to the Federal Employment Agency and can use the desired online service there.
