Digital career guidance events without the need to spend much time travelling or waiting

This year, young job seekers and their parents once again have the opportunity to learn about vocational training and academic study opportunities offered by companies across the country in a compact on-line format. This virtual service offering is targeted at young people who are about to graduate from school and are looking for suitable vocational training opportunities. During the information events, each of which will last one hour, you and your parents will be offered an exclusive insight into the career opportunities offered by the participating companies, their working conditions, their corporate culture and the prospects for young professionals who have completed their training. In addition, participating industry representatives will provide an overview of opportunities for dual training and career prospects within their respective sectors.

Response from the participating families and companies has been favourable so far

"We see the consistently positive feedback we have had from the participating young job seekers, their parents and the companies involved as proof that the format of the digital parent information events is a great support for young job seekers in their career choices," says Daniel Terzenbach, Head of Regional Representation. "They provide early insights into different vocational fields and assist students in better acquainting themselves with their own interests and strengths. It is precisely this early and practice-oriented approach to familiarising young job seekers with the career opportunities available to them which contributes to their making the right decision about their careers, ensuring a more sustainable transition from school to working life.”

Authentic insights from vocational trainees as well as from participants in dual studies programs

At the information events, vocational trainees and participants in dual studies programs from the companies involved in the programme share their experiences first-hand. They talk about how they managed to get through the application process and how they are navigating the vocational training and dual studies programs they are enrolled in. In addition, the participants will learn about how the respective vocational training and study programs are actually organised.

Time frame and insight into career opportunities with the Federal Employment Agency

Parent information events will take place during the two action weeks from Monday to Thursday between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Each one-hour time slot gives parents and young job seekers the opportunity to ask questions in the digital chat rooms and directly communicate with the companies and representatives of industry. Our dedicated web page provides an overview of all the companies involved as well as access to the respective events.

And on a related note: On 12 March at 8 p.m., the Federal Employment Agency will be hosting its own event to provide information about the wide range of opportunities it has on offer as an employer.

Digital services to complement on-site career guidance

With around 450 recognised jobs requiring vocational training and a huge selection of study courses in Germany, making the right decision is not always easy. In addition to the digital offerings, career guidance counsellors will provide information about career opportunities in one-on-one guidance sessions at the Employment Agency or at the various schools. However, the Career Information Centres (BiZ) of the Federal Employment Agency are also known to organise a wide array or career-related guidance events on-site.
