Opportunity for EU citizens in Germany to become lorry or bus drivers

Then the TQ-Plus programme is just right for you.

There is a severe shortage of lorry and bus drivers in Germany. At present, about 11,300 professional lorry driver and some 4,200 bus driver positions need to be filled.

By way of the TQ-Plus programme, the International and Specialized Services (ZAV) of the Federal Employment Agency of Germany, in collaboration with the European Employment Services (EURES) network, offers people from the EU the opportunity to train as lorry or bus drivers in Germany.

TQ-Plus programme benefits: 

  • The chance to start a new career as a lorry or bus driver in Germany.
  • A wide range of job opportunities in freight forwarding, local or long-distance transport, or in public and local transport.
  • A responsible and safe job as a driver.
  • Good pay: € 15 per hour during the training period, followed by at least € 2,500 gross per month (or more, depending on the employer’s pay scale).
  • The opportunity to improve your German language skills.

Requirements for participation in the programme: 

  • Motivation for obtaining a lorry or bus driver’s licence in Germany. 
  • The minimum age is 21 for a lorry driver’s licence and 24 for a bus driver’s licence. 
  • Willingness to attend an intensive German course and move to Germany. 
  • Openness towards people and new professional experiences.
