Cyclical short-time working allowance

Cyclical short-time working allowance (Kug) is granted when the regular customary weekly working hours are shortened temporarily in companies or departments due to economic reasons or an inevitable event. The requirements of Sections 95 to 109 of the Third Book of the Social Code (Social Code III) must be fulfilled.

As of January 2016, the statutory regular duration of receipt for cyclical short-time working allowance is a maximum of 12 months (Section 104 (1) Sentence 1 of Social Code III).

Using short-time work for health prevention and company health protection

The employees' time capacities freed up by short-time work can also be used actively for measures in the field of health prevention or company health protection in order to promote the health of workers and their employability.
