The Department of Language Science and Technology is inviting applications for the following position commencingat the earliest opportunity.

Academic research assistant (m/f/x) Reference number W2870, salary in accordance with the German TV-L salary scale1, pay grade: E13 TV- L, duration of employment: 4 years (with the possibility of extension within the regulations of WissZeitVG), volume ofemployment: 100 % of standard working time.

Workplace/Department:Department of Language Science and Technology.

Job requirements and responsibilities:

• Research and teaching in Digital Humanities;

• The position comes with a teaching load of four hours per week in the BA Digital Humanities;

• You should have expertise in one of the research fields of the Faculty of Humanities at Saarland University,e.g. Archaeology, Classical Philology, Historical Science, Language Sciences, Philosophy;

• Additionally, you should have expertise in at least one of the following: Statistical Methods, MachineLearning, Database programming, Web programming, Python programming, demonstrated through highqualitypublications, and be willing to take an active role in shaping the research and teaching environmentof the department.

Your academic qualifications:

• Doctoral degree / PhD in one oft he major subject fields in the Faculty of Humanities, e.g. Archaeology, Classical Philology, Historical Science, Language Sciences, Philosophy;

• Language skills (according to GER): Proficiency in English (spoken and written) – C2. The ability to teach in German is necessary – C2.

The successful candidate will also be expected to:

• Take active part in building a study program of the BA/MA in Digital Humanities.
