Saarland University is a campus university with an international reputation for research excellence, particularly in computer science and in the life sciences and nanosciences. The Centre for Language, Cognition and Computation (ClaCC) is inviting applications for the following position commencing the erliest possible time.
Academic research assistant (m/f/x)
Reference number W2903, salary in accordance with the German TV-L salary scale1, pay grade: E13 TV- L, duration of employment: until 31.12.2028, volume of employment: 50 % of standard working time.
Workplace/Department:
The Department of Language Science and Technology (https://www.uni-saarland.de/fachrichtung/lst.html) is a partner in the NFDI Text+ consortium (text-plus.org/), which is dedicated to establishing a decentralised infrastructure
for the use and preservation of language- and text-based research data. The Saarbrücken Data and Competence Centre is part of this distributed infrastructure and is based at the interdisciplinary Centre for Language, Cognition
and Computation (headed by Prof. Dr. Elke Teich).
Job requirements and responsibilities:
• Research data management (RDM)
• Management of research data repository in the field of linguistics
• Advising researchers on RDM
• Contribution to scientific publications
• Participation in research-oriented working groups and events organised by the Text+ Consortium
• Coordination with the local system administration team (servers)
Your academic qualifications:
• Completed university studies in computational linguistics, digital humanities or computer science
• Language skills (according to GER): Fluent in spoken and written German and English (C1)
The successful candidate will also be expected to:
• Experience in working with Linux servers (Ubuntu, Apache, MySQL, Tomcat)
• Programming skills in Python (including NLP libraries, e.g. spaCy)
• Knowledge of metadata standards (Dublin Core, OAI-PMH)
• Ideally, experience in working with Docker
• Teamwork skills
• The working language of the Text+ Consortium is German, so a very good command of German is required. In
addition, a very good command of English is required for on-site communication and publications

Pay grade classification is based on the particular details of the position held and the extent to which the applicant meets the
requirements of the pay grade within the TV-L salary scale. Part-time employment is generally possible.
