We are the European general agency of the globally active shipping company KAWASAKI KISEN KAISHA Ltd. ("K" Line). As a leading shipping company in the RoRo business, we offer highly sophisti­cated and tailor-made mari­time trans­port solu­tions to our custo­mers from the automotive and heavy machinery indus­tries. As European headquarters based in Hamburg, we are respon­sible for plan­ning and managing the regular services from Europe to North America and Asia as well as their marke­ting in Europe.

To support our dynamic and multi­national team in Hamburg, we are looking for a new

Team Member (m/f/d) Vessel Operations

Key tasks and responsibilities:
  • Prepare and issue voyage instruction, discharging instruc­tion, sailing infor­mation etc.
  • Update vessel schedule into our system
  • Communicate with vessel, ship mana­ging company, local office to main­tain scheduled voyage
  • Bunkering arrangement, including confir­mation of fuel SPEC and review of bunker supplier
  • Prepare cargo stowage plan and pro­vide to concerned parties
  • Issue incident report when acci­dent, serious cargo damage happens, followed by neces­sary actions with vessel master, ship management com­pany, port and agent
  • Collect cost reports from local offices in timely manner
  • Handle environmental and tech­nical matters related to vessel
  • Negotiate with owner of vessel when off-hire incurs, report to parties concerned when reached an agree­ment with the owner
Your skills:
  • Completed training, studies, or a similar quali­fication, ideally related to shipping or logistics
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate effec­tively in English, both verbally and in wri­ting
  • Familiar with handling numerical data, calcu­lation with high level of accuracy and attention to details
  • Sense to take necessary action, parti­cularly sharing neces­sary infor­mation among parties whenever criti­cal things happen
  • Experience and sense of managing one’s own workload through effec­tive prioritizing, time management and organi­zational skills
  • Possession of a class B driving license
  • Attitude to take care of ongoing issue until resolved, possibly with own ideas
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with the Micro­soft suite of software to inter­mediate level in Word, Excel and Outlook
