The laboratories of Prof. Jürgen Ruland and Prof. Fabian Theis at the Technical University of Munich, located at the Center for Translational Cancer Research (TranslaTUM) and the Institute of Computational Biology, Helmholtz Munich, respectively, jointly invite applications for a PhD student position.
The project focuses on bioinformatic, single-cell and spatial transcriptomic analyses to dissect the tumor immune microenvironment in T-cell lymphoma models. The overarching goal is to understand the biology of aggressive T-cell malignancies and to discover new therapeutic targets through integrative computational and experimental approaches.
Your responsibilities:
- Conduct bioinformatic analyses of single-cell and spatial transcriptomic datasets to characterize the tumor immune microenvironment in T-cell lymphoma models.
- Develop and apply reproducible computational workflows for data integration, statistical analysis, and biological interpretation in close interaction with experimental data.
- Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team and contribute to study design, documentation, figures, presentations, and scientific publications.
Your profile:
- You hold a MSc or equivalent degree with a solid background in bioinformatics, computational biology, systems immunology, or a closely related field.
- You are highly motivated to work in an interdisciplinary environment bridging immunology, cancer biology, and data science.
- Experience with single-cell and/or spatial omics data analysis is a plus.
We offer you:
- A highly collaborative project jointly supervised by the Ruland and Theis labs within the Munich biomedical ecosystem.
- Access to cutting-edge technologies and high-quality datasets.
- Structured doctoral training in an internationally visible research environment.
- EGYM well pass, corporate benefits and discounts (e.g. Käfer), cafeteria, sports and cultural offers
- Free use of the library through a branch of the Munich City Library located in the building

- Self-realization through a varied and technically demanding job with interdisciplinary cooperation between various departments of the TUM Klinikum Rechts der Isar
We look forward to your application!
