We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Head of Operations, Compute & Storage to lead our Infrastructure Engineering team within UI Information Technologies GmbH in Frankfurt. This role is responsible for managing core IT infrastructure services, ensuring high availability, operational excellence, SLA compliance, and continuous improvement across compute and storage environments.

You will lead a team of infrastructure engineers supporting critical enterprise systems and collaborate closely with other IT functions to ensure stable, secure, and scalable operations.

The ideal candidate has experience with ITIL governance model and familiar working in financial regulated environments (Bafin, CSSF).

Your tasks and responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Operations 

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Infrastructure Engineers
• Assesses whether the results of the team are on schedule and in line with customer expectations
• Manage day-to-day IT infrastructure operations
• Comprehensive financial management of the department and responsible for annual budget on specific services
• Own and oversee the management of contracts for sub contracted services
• Ensure SLA adherence and operational KPIs are met
• Monitor infrastructure health and ensure proactive issue resolution
• Manage ticket queues and operational workload distribution

Infrastructure Management

Oversee and ensure stability, performance, and security of:

**•          **Windows Server environments

•        Hyper-V , VMware virtualization platforms

•        NetApp storage systems

**•          **Exchange Online

•        Active Directory & Domain Controllers

•        Backup solutions (Commvault)

•        File services and shared storage

•        Patch management and vulnerability remediation

Governance and Optimization 

**•          **Capacity planning and performance optimization

•        Infrastructure lifecycle management

•        Security compliance and vulnerability management

•        Continuous improvement of operational processes

•        Documentation and operational standards enforcement

Collaboration 

**•          **Work closely with Security, Network, Cloud, and Application teams

•        Support IT projects and transformation initiatives

•        Act as escalation point for complex infrastructure issues

Your skills and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 7+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure Operations
• 3+ years in a leadership or team lead role
• Strong expertise in:
  • Windows Server environments
  • Hyper-V and VMware virtualization
  • NetApp storage
  • Microsoft Exchange Online
  • Active Directory / Domain Services
  • Backup solutions (preferably Commvault)
  • Patch management & vulnerability management
• Solid understanding of ITIL processes
• Experience managing SLAs and operational KPIs
• Strong troubleshooting and escalation management skills
• Fluent in English and German
