Our research:

In the Department of Nuclear Medicine, we are interested in the development and clinical translation of molecular imaging tools for various applications, such as oncology, regenerative medicine, immunotherapies, as well as cell and gene therapies. Our interdisciplinary environment brings together a broad range of expertise, including biomarker discovery and evaluation, chemical synthesis and radiolabeling, protein biochemistry, radiochemistry, and preclinical imaging using PET, SPECT, and fluorescence techniques. We also work on animal model development, histopathological validation, tumor biology, and molecular biology.

The position is a part of the project “Biotechnologie-Innovationen für High-End Immuntherapien und Theranostik” (BIOFIT; 2025-28) funded by the EFRE Bavaria (European Regional Development Fund).

Your scientific project:

As part of our EFRE-funded project, you will collaborate closely with Bavarian companies in the fields of radiopharmacy, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology. Depending on the successful candidate’s profile, projects may be carried out with different companies within the consortium.

Applicants must have strong expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Production of radioisotopes and/or radiopharmaceuticals, including laboratory automation
  • In vivo assessment of diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals
  • Analysis of immune responses to various therapies, including radiopharmaceuticals, small-molecule drugs, immunomodulators, and/or CAR-T cell therapies

Your profile:

  • Excellent university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related discipline (proof required)
  • At least 3 years of research experience, for example gained during a PhD or in a comparable academic or industrial setting (to be demonstrated by appropriate evidence)
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Ability to analyze data, troubleshoot experiments, and interpret results independently
  • Practical experience in at least half of the following areas: molecular biology and biochemistry, mammalian cell culture, virology, and histopathology
  • Willingness to conduct in vivo experiments in mice
  • Strong motivation, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to scientific excellence
  • Proactive, independent, and analytical working style as well as excellent organizational and time-management skills

We offer you:

  • You will work in an interdisciplinary group of scientists and clinicians (Postdocs and PhD students with a background in chemistry, biology, physics, veterinarians, physicians, and technical assistants) with excellent infrastructure and a strong focus on translational research
  • Our laboratories are located in the Center for Translational Cancer Research (TranslaTUM) and the Department of Nuclear Medicine at the TUM University Hospital near the city center of Munich
  • EGYM well pass, corporate benefits and discounts (e.g. Käfer), cafeteria, sports and cultural offers
  • Free use of the library through a branch of the Munich City Library located in the building
  • Company pension plan through the Federal and State Pension Institute (VBL)
  • Self-realization through a varied and technically demanding job with interdisciplinary cooperation between various departments of the TUM Klinikum

We look forward to your application!
