Stellenbeschreibung
In order to fill a fixed-term position in part-time (67 %) at the earliest possible date, we are looking for one
PhD Application (m/f/x), 3 years, 67% position, TV-L E13
Our research focuses on developing simple catalytic “dream reactions” as alternatives to multi-step transformations. We are particularly interested in devising new strategies for minimizing waste within a synthetic sequence. Our reaction portfolio encompasses homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, electrochemistry, and photochemistry. We develop catalytic methods, design novel catalysts, and construct custom-built reactors as well as hardware and software tools for instrumental analysis. Our experimental work is supported by mechanistic studies and quantum mechanical calculations and complemented by organic syntheses that allow us to test the practical applicability of the new methods in the production of complex molecules, such as pharmaceuticals.
As a research assistant (m/f/x), you will independently and reliably prepare and carry out experiments, analyse the results and …

- Adhere to laboratory safety regulations and group duties for the maintenance of devices
- Supervise as a laboratory assistant organic chemistry practical courses for bachelor studies (600 hours in three years)
Your profile:
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, with a focus on inorganic, organometallic, or organic chemistry
- Solid background in homogeneous catalysis, coordination chemistry, or related fields
- Practical experience in air- and moisture-sensitive techniques (e.g., Schlenk line, glovebox)
- Proficiency in the synthesis and characterization of chemical compounds
- Hands-on experience with analytical and spectroscopic techniques (e.g., NMR, IR, UV–Vis, GC, HPLC, MS)
- Strong understanding of reaction mechanisms and catalytic processes
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a research team
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a structured, analytical working style
