Research associate (m/f/x)

The chair of Physical Chemistry II deals with two main research thrusts: 1. Terahertz spectroscopy – Ask the Water! THz spectroscopy a sensitive tool to probe solute-induced changes in the collective water network motions. Time-resolved THz spectroscopy investigates the solvation dynamics of biological processes such as protein folding, enzyme activity, water dynamics and calorimetry. 2. High-resolution infrared spectroscopy Molecules are embedded in ultracold, superfluid helium nanodroplets at 0.37 K to investigate their structure and dynamics. Microsolvation and microaggregation of molecular clusters are studied using high-resolution infrared spectroscopy.

As a research associate (m/f/x), you will independently and reliably prepare and carry out experiments, analyse the results, contribute to scientific publications, participate in international conferences to keep your scientific knowledge up to date and give presentations to a broad audience etc.

Your tasks:

  • Supervision of undergraduate and graduate students
  • Support for lectures and seminars

Your profile:

  • You hold a top-grade full university degree with a doctorate in Chemistry or Chemical Physics.
  • Expertise required in design of 2D nanoporous confinement
  • Previous expertise in study of hydration with sophisticated spectroscopic techniques
  • You have a solid knowledge of English in a professional environment.
