Ph.D. position – Mucosal Immunology
Part time | Fixed-term (36 months) | Helmholtz Munich
The Mucosal Immunology research group at the Center for Allergy and Environment (ZAUM) investigates fundamental questions regarding tolerance and immunity, with a focus on the gastrointestinal tract. In this context, we address questions regarding the role of dendritic cells and regulatory T cells, various tissue-resident cells, as well as the role of the microbiome (e.g., Köhler et al., Muc Immunol 2024; Geiselhöringer et al., Nature Commun 2024; Kolland et al., Nat Commun 2025). The research group is also embedded in national research consortia (CRC1371, TRR355) as well as local networks at TUM and Helmholtz Munich. The position is located on the Neuherberg campus at Helmholtz Munich.
Your responsibilities:
- Investigation and characterization of regulatory signaling cascades in various immune cells
- Development of new methods for studying cells of the innate and adaptive immune system
- Planning, conducting, evaluating, and documenting scientific experiments
- Generating new hypotheses and project ideas
- Collaboration in various cooperative projects
Your profile:
- You hold a master’s degree in immunology, molecular biology, or a related discipline
- You have knowledge of and/or an interest in bioinformatics and programming languages (Python, R)
- Ideally, you already have experience working with animal disease models
- You are a team player, eager to learn, and passionate about scientific discoveries in biomedicine
- You have excellent written and spoken English skills (min. C1)
