Stellenbeschreibung
Ultrasonic Acoustic Engineer (m/f/d)
Sound Propagation, Resonance & Biofouling Prevention
HASYTEC (Ultrasonic Tech GmbH, part of the ERMA TECH Group) develops and markets highly innovative ultrasonic technology that prevents biofouling on fluid-carrying surfaces. Our systems protect more than 300 ships, offshore platforms, and maritime installations worldwide against barnacles, algae, and mussels—efficiently, sustainably, and with minimal maintenance.
To strengthen our development team, we are looking for an Ultrasonic Acoustics Engineer who is passionate about understanding sound propagation, resonance behaviour and ultrasonic systems in complex maritime structures.
You will help develop the next generation of ultrasonic anti-fouling technology.
Our long-term goal is to protect not only piping systems and sea water equipment, but also large ship hull structures through controlled ultrasonic resonance fields.
Your responsibilities include:
- Analyze ultrasonic wave propagation in maritime structures and materials
- Investigate resonance behaviour in piping systems, sea chests, strainers, box coolers, propeller systems and hull structures
- Develop and optimize ultrasonic transducer configurations and installation concepts
- Plan, execute and evaluate laboratory experiments and onboard vessel trials
- Measure vibration behaviour and acoustic transmission using modern test equipment
- Analyze experimental data and derive practical design improvements
- Collaborate with hardware, software and mechanical engineering teams
- Coordinate technical activities with universities and research institutes
Technical Qualifications
- Degree in Physics, Acoustics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field
- Experience in one or more of the following:
- Ultrasonics
- Acoustics
- Vibration analysis
- Resonance behaviour
- Signal processing
- Experimental testing
- Experience with laboratory measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers or vibration measurement systems
- Experience in data analysis using Python, MATLAB or similar tools
- Experience in maritime systems, fluid-carrying structures or piezoelectric technology is beneficial but not required
- Analytical and systematic working style
- Curiosity for understanding physical phenomena
- Hands-on mentality and enthusiasm for experimental work
- Ability to bridge theory and practical application
- Team-oriented mindset and initiative
- Our working language is English
What Makes This Role Unique
This is not a standard engineering position.
You will work on challenging acoustic problems involving sound propagation, structural resonance and ultrasonic excitation in real maritime applications.
The role combines physics, experimentation, onboard testing and collaboration with leading research institutions to develop sustainable technologies for the maritime industry.
What we Offer
- Work with a unique technology that contributes to more sustainable shipping
- A combination of laboratory research, practical testing and real-world applications
- High levels of responsibility and influence within a growing company at the forefront of sustainable technology
- Collaboration with international customers, universities and research institutes
- Modern equipment and short decision-making processes
- A technically strong and motivated, multi-professional international team
- employee benefits such as corporate pension schemes, bikeleasing and more
