Stellenbeschreibung

Role Overview

As our Radar Firmware Engineer, you work on the firmware that runs the radar signal chain on our sensor nodes. You implement waveform control and signal processing algorithms bare metal on an NXP radar SoC driving our 77 GHz front end, verify them against measurements in the lab, and help keep the chain inside its timing, memory, and power budget. Our Senior Radar Firmware Engineer and Radar Systems Architect set the firmware architecture and the algorithm designs, and you bring them onto the target.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement radar signal processing algorithms bare metal on the DSP cores of our NXP radar SoC
  • Implement waveform generation, timing, and control for the 77 GHz front end
  • Verify algorithm behaviour against lab measurements, including the test setups needed for it
  • Measure and improve runtime, memory, and power consumption on the target hardware
  • Contribute to the micro-Doppler data products the perception team's classification models consume
  • Debug firmware and hardware interactions on the bench together with our hardware engineers
  • Work with the embedded Linux team on interfaces, build integration, and firmware updates

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of embedded C development, or a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field with hands-on firmware work from projects, a thesis, or an internship
  • Solid C skills, and comfort working from a datasheet or reference manual
  • Working understanding of digital signal processing basics: sampling, FFTs, and filtering
  • Experience debugging on real hardware with a debugger, logic analyzer, or oscilloscope
  • Interest in radar, and readiness to learn the signal chain on the job

Nice to Have

  • Coursework or project experience with radar, FMCW, or RF systems
  • Familiarity with DMA, interrupts, and memory layout on microcontrollers or SoCs
  • Experience with fixed-point arithmetic
  • Python for test automation and measurement data analysis
  • Experience with Git and CI
  • Contributions to open-source signal processing or embedded projects
  • German language skills are beneficial but not required
