Research Associate / Project Coordinator (m/f/d)
The Department of Health Services Research at the Institute of Diversity Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Ruhr University Bochum, Germany, is seeking to appoint a Research Associate / Project Coordinator (m/f/d) starting 1st of January 2027. The Department of Health Services Research investigates how individual diversity characteristics influence healthcare delivery and develops, implements, and evaluates innovative, patient-centred models of care. Our research focuses on the evaluation of complex interventions, participatory health services research, and the development of diversity-sensitive healthcare concepts. Our interdisciplinary work integrates health services research, public health, social sciences, and medical ethics.
The successful candidate will join the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's Programme DIME – Diversity Medicine, an international initiative to establish a new joint Master's programme together with leading European and international partner universities (e.g. France, Japan, Taiwan). This position offers the unique opportunity to contribute to the development of an innovative international degree programme at the intersection of diversity medicine, global health, and higher education. As Research Associate / Project Coordinator, you will play a central role in coordinating this international consortium. You will collaborate closely with academic partners, university leadership, teaching staff, students, and funding organisations across several countries. The position requires excellent English proficiency, strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills, and outstanding organisational abilities to successfully coordinate complex international collaborations.

Your tasks:
- Contribute to the scientific development and evaluation of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's Programme DIME - Diversity Medicine, including literature reviews and the preparation of scientific materials
- Support the collection, analysis and interpretation of data related to teaching, programme evaluation and research activities within DIME
- Contribute to scientific publications, conference presentations and the dissemination of research findings
- support the coordination of academic activities within DIME, including communication with partner universities, students and visiting academics
- Assist in organising consortium meetings, workshops and selected international programme activities conducted in English
- Contribute to project documentation, reporting and the preparation of presentations and other project materials
Your profile:
- Master's degree (or equivalent university qualification) in Public Health, Health Sciences, Medicine, Health Services Research, Social Sciences, Psychology, Medical Ethics, Higher Education Management, or a related field
- Strong interest in diversity medicine, international higher education, and collaborative research
- A very good command of written and spoken English is essential, as English is the working language of the consortium and virtually all communication is conducted in English
- Excellent communication, networking, and interpersonal skills
- Outstanding diplomatic skills, intercultural competence, and confidence in working with partners from diverse academic, cultural, and professional backgrounds
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to independently manage complex international coordination processes
- Highly structured, proactive, solution-oriented, and reliable working style with a strong sense of responsibility
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an international team
- Experience in international project management, Erasmus+, Erasmus Mundus, university administration, or comparable international projects is desirable
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
