Scientist for the development of the German EOSC‑Node

The DESY Information Technology (IT) division participates in a wide range of high-profile national and European projects, evaluating and developing innovative IT technologies. One of its key activities is the establishment of the German EOSC Node in collaboration with ten leading research institutions across Germany as part of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI). This initiative requires close coordination across more than 300 German universities and research institutions, as well as with national and European research infrastructures.
To support this ambitious endeavour, we are seeking a scientist with expertise in modern web technologies, particularly the development of user-facing web portals and backend services. The successful candidate will be motivated to contribute to the design, development, and operation of these technologies within the evolving European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) ecosystem.
About your role:
- You will contribute to the overall architecture and the design of the German NFDI EOSC Node
- You will coordinate the selection and methodology for developing a service portfolio compatible with existing requirements for the EOSC Node
- You will enhance and deploy a portal for accessing Web Services for the EOSC Node
- You will ensure that the representation of service records is harmonized and aligned with interoperability specifications in the EOSC
- You will participate in regular project meetings, workshops and conferences, both online and in person, and you will contribute to regular reports towards the project management
About you:
- You have completed a master's degree in computer science, physics or related subjects
- You have good knowledge of Web Technologies and at least one modern programming language
- Familiarity with modern cloud technologies, such as CI/CD and Kubernetes, is beneficial
- Experience with user-facing web portals, REST APIs and/or backend development is a plus
- You have good spoken and written command of the English Ianguage
- You are a collaborative team player who enjoys working in large, international teams
- You are open to travel
