COLIPI is dedicated to Fermenting Renewable Carbon For Generational Life Quality, utilizing renewable carbon sources and CO2 transformation to produce valuable biomaterials and contribute to the intensifying fight against global warming. 

We develop gas fermentation processes for the sustainable production of bulk and high value products. Our work focuses on advanced fermentation technologies, the development and scale-up of novel bioreactor concepts, and the automation of bioprocess systems. 

To strengthen our technical team, we are looking for candidates strong in fermentation and process engineering. Experience in automation is a major plus. 

This is not a purely theoretical or desk-based position. You should enjoy developing technical concepts, selecting components, building and commissioning equipment, conducting experiments, and solving problems directly at the plant. 

At the same time, you should be able to translate biological requirements into robust process engineering and automation solutions. 

🔬Key Responsibilities:  

• Support planning, building and optimizing a novel gas fermentation platform from laboratory to pilot scale 
• Hands-on work during setup of the systems  
• Plan, conduct, and evaluate fermentation experiments in close collaboration with the biological development team 
• Analyze biological and technical process data and derive practical measures for process improvement 
• Identify and troubleshooting issues in fermentation and process control automation   
• Plan and support scale-up and scale-down activities

🛠️Qualifications: 

• Legal permit to work in Europe 
• Master’s degree in bioprocess engineering, biochemical engineering, process engineering, biotechnology, automation engineering, or a related field 
• Alternatively, a comparable technical qualification combined with extensive and demonstrably equivalent professional experience 
• Several years of hands-on experience with microbial fermentation processes, bioreactor operation, and bioprocess automation 
• Strong understanding of the interactions between biological processes, reactor design, and process conditions 
• Experience in (bio-)process automation and control engineering 
• Experience with LabVIEW, C/C++, Python, or similar programming languages is an advantage 
• Familiarity with programming in LabVIEW, C related or python related languagues would be a plus 
• Independent, structured, and solution-oriented approach to work 
• Strong hands-on mentality and enthusiasm for both designing and physically building and operating equipment 
• Good written and spoken English; German skills (B2) are an advantage
