Senior Network & Systems Integration Engineer - Tanzania

Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Employment Type: Full-Time for the implementation of approximately 24 month

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Network & Systems Integration Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and management of a nationwide network infrastructure across Tanzania. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing secure and reliable connectivity between multiple locations, integrating existing platforms and technologies, and ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security of the IT environment.

This role requires a hands-on networking expert with proven experience in large-scale network deployments, systems integration, and telecommunications environments.

Key Responsibilities

Network Design and Deployment

• Design, implement, and manage a nationwide network infrastructure across Tanzania.
• Develop network architecture including WAN, LAN, VPN, wireless, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and network security devices.
• Coordinate network rollouts and site deployments across multiple locations.
• Work with local telecommunications providers to establish reliable connectivity.

Systems Integration

• Lead the integration of existing business platforms, applications, and third-party systems.
• Analyse current infrastructure and recommend improvements for scalability and performance.
• Ensure seamless data exchange and interoperability between systems.
• Develop integration standards, procedures, and documentation.
• Support migration and implementation projects.

Infrastructure and Security

• Implement network security policies and best practices.
• Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network and integration-related issues.
• Ensure business continuity through disaster recovery and backup solutions.
• Conduct regular security assessments and system audits.

Project Management

• Plan and manage network implementation projects from conception to completion.
• Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders.
• Prepare project plans, progress reports, and technical documentation.
• Ensure projects are completed within budget and agreed timelines.

Technical Support and Leadership

• Provide expert-level technical support and guidance to local IT teams.
• Train users and technical staff on network and system operations.
• Maintain comprehensive infrastructure documentation.
• Stay current with emerging networking and integration technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Network Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in enterprise networking and systems integration.
• Strong experience in nationwide or multi-site network deployments.
• Proven experience integrating existing platforms, ERP systems, databases, APIs, and business applications.
• Experience working with telecommunications operators and ISP providers.

Technical Skills

• Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs, MPLS, SD-WAN, and network security.
• Experience with Cisco, Fortinet, Mikrotik, Juniper, Huawei, or similar network technologies.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and cybersecurity frameworks.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies and server infrastructure.
• Experience with API integration, middleware, and enterprise application integration.

Preferred Certifications

• Cisco CCNP or CCIE
• Fortinet NSE
• Microsoft Azure Network Engineer Associate
• PMP or PRINCE2 (advantageous)
• ITIL Foundation
