Our client is a leading international software provider in the construction and engineering industry. We are currently looking for a "Lead / Staff Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (m/f/d) - (AWS) remote " to join their team. The position is primarily remote within Germany; however, occasional travel for on-site workshops and team meetings is required.

Our customer is hiring someone who has built and run AWS infrastructure in production and is comfortable owning it end-to-end. This role is hands-on: you will design, automate, operate, and improve a cloud platform that multiple engineering teams rely on every day.

What you’ll do:

• Build and run AWS infrastructure that stays stable under load and during failures.
• Improve how we deploy: safer releases, repeatable environments, fewer manual steps.
• Make incidents less frequent and less painful: clear alerts, fast diagnosis, solid fixes, and follow-ups that prevent repeats.
• Set up and maintain monitoring, logging, and tracing so teams can see what’s happening without guesswork.
• Standardize infrastructure with Terraform so changes are reviewable, auditable, and easy to roll out.
• Help other engineers level up through reviews, pairing, and practical guidance.

What you need to have done before:

• Operated AWS services in production (examples: ECS/EKS, EC2, RDS, S3) and dealt with real problems—latency, outages, scaling issues, and security gaps.
• Built infrastructure using Terraform (or similar) with a focus on maintainability.
• Worked with containers (Docker + ECS or Kubernetes/EKS).
• Understand AWS networking and security well enough to design safe defaults (IAM, VPCs, routing, encryption, secrets).
• Written code or scripts to automate work (Python/Go/TypeScript/Java—any is fine).
• Taken ownership during incidents and can explain how you find root causes and prevent repeats.
