As our Automation Engineer you will take responsibility for program integration and automation solutions across the building and engineering systems. As part of the Facilities team, reporting into the Facility Manager, you will ensure seamless operations of complex mechanical systems, supporting predictive maintenance, energy efficiency, and compliance.You'll also play a key role in planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining automated processes and systems within our company. You will become part of a dynamic team that creates innovative solutions to enhance the efficiency, quality, and productivity of our building services and equipment.

What You’ll Do

• Conceptualization and development of automation solutions: You'll design, develop and implement automated systems and processes that ensure smooth operation of building facilities and machinery
• Programming and integration: You'll create control and automation programs for machines within building facilities and systems responsible for supplying production/testing-relevant utilities. Integrating these systems into existing infrastructures, as well as connecting them to our BMS, is also part of your responsibilities
• Troubleshooting and maintenance: You'll monitor automated processes to detect and resolve potential malfunctions or failures at an early stage. You'll provide effective support to our technicians during fault diagnosis, following best practices for safety and error isolation
• Process optimization: You'll analyze existing processes and develop improvement proposals to increase production capacity, efficiency and quality while adhering to standardized software testing procedures. Furthermore, you'll be responsible for maintaining state-of-the-art technology standards across Tesla's automation and control systems throughout the entire facility
• Collaboration with other departments: As an Automation (Associate) Engineer, you'll work closely with other teams such as Engineering, Controls and Quality to support the implementation of automation solutions in various projects
• Documentation and reporting: You'll create technical documentation, logs, interface specifications and reports on implemented automation solutions - this includes, for example, system operation manuals and maintenance records

What You’ll Bring

• A degree or vocational training in Automation Technology, Computer Science (or comparable field) or a similar technical discipline
• Solid experience in programming control systems (Siemens TIA Portal or similar)
• Demonstrable experience with automation solutions and technologies as well as their bus systems (Profinet, Modbus, OPC UA)
• Experience in commissioning and validation of automated systems is desirable
• Knowledge of network technology
•  Basic knowledge of SQL databases
• Experience in applying industrial standards and security policy
• Team-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate in inter-disciplinary teams
• Good communication skills in English, German is desirable
