An der Georg-August-Universität Göttingen Stiftung Öffentlichen Rechts – Johann-Friedrich-Blumenbach Inst. f. Zoologie u. Anthrop. - Abt. Evolu.Entw.gen. ist ab dem 01.06.2026 eine Stelle alsPostdoctoral researcher (all genders welcome)- Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L - in Vollzeit (teilzeitgeeignet) zu besetzen. Die Stelle ist befristet bis 31.05.2029.Regular working hours will be 39.8 hours per week. The position is affiliated with the DFG Research Training Group “GönomiX”, which aims to reveal how animal diversity evolves through changes in developmental gene regulatory networks (GRNs). Focusing on anterior head patterning, we study Wnt signaling and target gene interactions in the anterior GRN in our “Göttingen Zoo” of emerging animal model systems. You will play a central role in a collaborative project aiming at a cross-species comparison of GRNs, which includes comparative transcriptomics and participation in our bioinformatics experts’ efforts to develop novel tools for cross-species comparison.
Your profile
Candidates should hold a doctorate in evolutionary developmental genetics or related fields with a Master in respective areas. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with an interest in working with emerging model systems and conducting bioinformatics analyses of transcriptomic data for the reconstruction of GRNs. You should have excellent communication skills and enjoy working in a team as you will be collaborating with PhD students to coordinate data generation and with bioinformatics experts to discuss the development of novel tools. We would highly value you sharing your scientific expertise with the PhD students. You will be expected to work independently, adjust the project according to emerging findings and literature, and eventually write the respective manuscripts. Fluency in written and spoken English is required in order to participate in discussions with our international team.
Your tasks
Coordination of the molecular definition of developmental stages, which are comparable across species and support during the gathering of respective transcriptomic data.
Analysis of the whole transcriptomics dataset with a focus on temporally resolved GRN reconstruction and cross-species comparison. This work will be supported by our bioinformatics experts.
Follow-up of selected results by analyzing gene function, e.g. by RNAi
Advising students with respect to lab work and enriching our training program with your expertise.
