An der Georg-August-Universität Göttingen Stiftung Öffentlichen Rechts – DNPW - Abt. Agrarökologie & Funktionelle Agrobiodiversität ist ab dem 01.10.2026 eine Stelle alsPostdoctoral researcher (all genders welcome)- Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L - in Vollzeit (nicht teilzeitgeeignet) zu besetzen. Die Stelle ist befristet für 3 Jahre mit der Möglichkeit einer 3 jährigen Verlängerung.The Position is part of the research project “Building climate resilience in agricultural landscapes through social-ecological diversification, co-design and transdisciplinary learning (AgRe-Lab)”. AgRe-Lab will be funded by zukunft.niedersachsen, the joint science funding program of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture and the Volkswagen Foundation. The transdisciplinary AgRe-Lab project is focusing on the adoption of climate and biodiversity measures, together with co-design processes, landscape governance, and transdisciplinary learning. AgRe-Lab will investigate how these measures shape the social-ecological resilience of agricultural landscapes to adapt and remain productive under climate change.

The full-time position should be filled by October 1, 2026 (no later than November 2026) subject to the final funding approval. The salary is in accordance with the German public service salary scale (TV-L E13) with 100%, which corresponds to 39.8 working hours per week. The contract will be for three years and may be extended for an additional three years. The position involves both the scientific coordination of the AgRe-Lab project and conducting research in collaboration with AgRe-Lab partners.
Your profile
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with strong communication and organizational skills. Applicants must hold a completed university degree (Master’s degree) and hold a PhD or are about to complete their PhD in agricultural sciences (e.g. agricultural economics, agricultural policy, agroecology), sociology, geography, ecology, or another discipline related to the social-ecological research of agricultural systems.
Candidates with a proven track record of interdisciplinary, and ideally transdisciplinary, research using participatory approaches in Living Lab contexts, combined with a strong conceptual understanding of agricultural landscapes as socio-ecological systems, will be viewed favourably. Fluency in written and spoken German and English is required, together with an excellent publication record.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in supervising Master's and Bachelor's theses, together with a demonstrated commitment to scientific outreach and communication. Experience with spatial analyses using QGIS, participatory mapping, or R, as well as qualitative and quantitative social science research methods, will be considered an asset. A valid Class B driving licence is required. A strong willingness to travel for field work and spend time at the Living Labs is essential.
Your tasks
Implementation of Living Labs, including the selection of study landscapes and study sites; coordination and support of social-ecological research within the Living Labs; communication with regional implementation partners, authorities, and farmers
Active participation in different transdisciplinary subprojects of AgRe-Lab with respect to data collection, analyses and writing of scientific publications, especially on social-ecological aspects and synthesis of the findings
Manage the co-development of a digital tool for participatory landscape planning based on project outcomes
Project administration, data management, organization of meetings and workshops
Scientific outreach, knowledge transfer and science communication, including social media
Collaboration with the ZKfN Office and exchange with other Climate Future Labs
Co-supervision of bachelor, master and doctoral students
Support of general project tasks and activities
