In order to support the structures test department within airframe engineering, Airbus Operations is looking for a

Control Systems Engineer for Structural Tests (d/f/m)

Are you interested to contribute to the testing of the very newest aircraft developments? With this position you have the chance to work both in the office and in the lab within a very international environment.

Empirical validation of aircraft design is a vital and mandatory step both in development and certification. Within the airframe organization, the structures test department is responsible for performing static and fatigue tests on all sizes of aircraft structure specimens. State-of-the-art methods are applied to control the load application and measure the response of the specimen.

In order to accelerate the aircraft development cycle, the improvement of test control technology and algorithms is a vital step. As a control systems engineer you will be able to explore and validate the latest developments in this field in collaboration with colleagues on all the European Airbus sites.

This role is also available with reduced weekly hours and an adapted scope of tasks.

Your location

You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Setup of state of the art control systems based on commercially available technology.
  • Installation and configuration of control systems for our test rigs.
  • Enable fast test performance by optimisation of controllers.
  • Creation of load profiles for static and fatigue tests.
  • Management of subcontracted electrical installation activities .
  • Ensurance of quality standards by securing and documenting the accuracy of load introduction
  • Development of new control system solutions within transnational collaborations

Desired skills and qualifications

  • University degree in engineering or science
  • Good knowledge about control theory, signal processing and servo-hydraulic systems
  • Several years of professional experience in setup of control systems (for example electrical installation, setup of computer networks and/or application of dedicated software solutions)
  • Programming (any language)
  • Open attitude towards working with various software packages
  • Ability to work under time pressure without compromising quality of work
  • Motivation to translate complex technical topics into understandable communication
  • Willingness to collaborate transnationally, including occasional travel to other European Airbus sites
  • Fluency in English; German would be a plus
