Definition working student

Working students are students who are enrolled at a University or some other institution of higher education, and who are employed in a reasonably long, fixed-term position parallel to their studies. This position must not be confused with an internship or with the possibility of writing a final thesis.

This employment usually takes place directly on the company's premises. A working student's main focus remains on their studies, which is why, during term-time, working students are not allowed to work more than 20 hours per week.

Working students therefore usually work near their place of study, so as to conveniently combine studying and employment.

Your location: Hamburg Finkenwerder

You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Experience the special flair of Hamburg in your spare time where vibrant cosmopolitan culture meets nautic legacy.

Are you wondering how you actually get from university to Airbus? Your working student position is at the Finkenwerder plant and you can take the ferry from Teufelsbrück to the Airbus ferry terminal and back to the university in the morning and at noon. Alternatively, you can take the ferry to Finkenwerder and then ride your bike for about another 15 minutes to the main entrance.

Your benefits

  • Attractive salary and work-life balance with an 18-hour week (flexitime).
  • International environment with the opportunity to network globally.
  • Work with modern/diversified technologies.
  • Opportunity to participate in the Generation Airbus Community to expand your own network.

Your tasks and responsibilities

The working student will play a key role in supporting FAL management and industrial topics such as:

  • Driving and contributing to FAL Improvement Initiatives
  • Contributing to Strategic Management Presentations
  • Conducting data analysis (Leadtime Analysis, KPI analysis, etc.)
  • Organization of the future FAL (Processes, Orgchart, Roles and Responsibilities. etc.)

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Enrolled full-time student (d/f/m) in the area of (industrial-) engineering, aerospace, data analytics or an equivalent field of study.
  • First practical experience in the field of production and aeronautic industry is desirable.
  • The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in project management and industrial processes, be practical oriented and have good communication skills
  • Data-Driven Problem Solving: Ability to clean, manipulate, and interpret operational data to identify process bottlenecks and support data-backed decision-making.
  • Familiarity with modern AI productivity tools, combined with an eagerness to apply these tools to production workflows
  • Fluent in German and English.
