Job description
In order to support our Component Loads team, Airbus is looking for a
Component Loads Engineer (d/f/m)
Are you passionate about aircraft physics?
Are you keen to work at the interface between flight physics and airframe design?
Do you enjoy connecting people and building trustful connections with your co-workers and your customers?
As Component Loads Engineer in Hamburg, you will master the technical challenges around the fuselage and the VTP (vertical tail plane) in a transnational organisation located in Europe and India.
In this role, you will also act as the Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Loads Integrator (FLI), serving as a key technical focal point and liaison between the Loads & Aeroelasticity (L&A) domain and the Stress Office (SO) F&DT group.
We would like you to join our mixed team of 15 engaged engineers and scientists and get introduced to the different activities we perform from an early design stage until certification for all Airbus aircraft. We are responsible for the interface to our customers in airframe, systems, and cabin & cargo, identifying requirements and delivering aero and inertia loads for static and fatigue design. We perform special assessments around dynamic component problems and cabin analyses, and we contribute to the overall aircraft model within the loads process. Our in-house tool world ranges from high-performance software to simple scripts and is in the middle of a transformation to more automation and machine learning.
Your location
You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Experience the special flair of Hamburg in your spare time where vibrant cosmopolitan culture meets nautic legacy.
Our Benefits for You
- Fair Compensation & Extras: Attractive remuneration and individual additional benefits, such as company pension schemes, mobility offers (e.g., bike leasing), or corporate discounts with partner companies in accordance with our current guidelines.
- Time for You (and Your Loved Ones): 30 days of annual leave based on our collective agreement (35-hour week); work-life balance through flexible working hours (flextime), mobile working, part-time options, job sharing, and sabbatical opportunities.
- Growth Made Easy: Excellent professional development opportunities and international, group-wide career perspectives.
- Feel Good at Work: On-site company doctor; comprehensive health programs (sports courses, preventive care, etc.), canteen and cafeteria, and local childcare facilities at selected locations.
- Diversity Connects: Work in a diverse environment with more than 140 nationalities, where exchange, mutual support, and inclusion are part of our DNA.
Your tasks and responsibilities
As a team member, you will work in an empowered manner to ensure customer satisfaction. You will have the chance to develop throughout our activities and contribute to:
- Requirements capture and modelling for our components fuselage and VTP
- Mass modelling for overall aircraft loads
- Preparation and delivery of static and fatigue loads
- Loads computation for fairings, secondary structure, rudder, and/or specific cabin layouts
- Component dynamics
- Support airlines through Airbus Customer Services by carrying out L&A analyses of in-service events
- Contribute to Loads In-Service Support with troubleshooting activities in the L&A design office context for development and production flight test and in-service aircraft, performing related L&A assessments
- Engage for timely response to engineering queries as on-call engineer for Loads In-Service Support
Desired skills and qualifications
- You are a highly motivated, proactive, and open-minded person with a great sense of initiative who likes connecting people.
- You have a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, preferably with working experience in the loads-stress perimeter, dynamic modelling, or fatigue & damage tolerance (F&DT).
- You bring a solid background in flight physics, dynamic behavior, and aircraft fatigue loads evaluation.
- You are interested in understanding physical aspects, using engineering judgment, and applying analytical methods to solve complex load challenges.
- You are keen to deepen your technical knowledge while enjoying working in a multicultural and interdisciplinary team across sites.
- You are committed to investing your time in your development in the area of loads and aeroelastics along with the required methods, processes, and tools.
Not a 100% match? No worries! Airbus supports your personal growth with customized development solutions.
This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth
By submitting your CV or application you are consenting to Airbus using and storing information about you for monitoring purposes relating to your application or future employment. This information will only be used by Airbus.
