The Department of Cardiology, Angiology, and Internal Medicine Intensive Care (Medical Clinic I) -experimental Cardiology - research group AG Möllmann/Prof. N. Marx- is offering following position
Research Assistant -Ph.D. candidate)- (f/m/d) in the field of Life Sciences (cardiac metabolism)
Operational area: Department of Cardiology, Angiology, and Internal Medicine Intensive Care (Medical Clinic I) -experimental Cardiology - research group AG Möllmann/Prof. N. Marx
Working hours: 65% (25,03 hours/week) of the full working hours in the collective agreement (currently 38.5 hours/week)
Duration/Term of employment: the position is limited till 31.12.2029 in accordance with the WissZeitVG (German Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act) with option of prolongation. The successful applicant will be encouraged and supported to achieve a doctoral degree.
Start date: as soon as possible
Remuneration/Rates: EG 13 (TV-L)
Our research group comprises basic scientists and practising cardiologists, facilitating the integration of basic and clinical research. Our research aims to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying various cardiac disease models and to investigate the roles of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP), as well as SGLT2 inhibitors. We also investigate the development of cross-organ processes (organ crosstalk) in multimorbidities such as diabetes and kidney disease, and in cardiovascular diseases. Our research encompasses cell culture studies and studies in mice. We are always focused on the potential translation of new research findings into clinical practice, particularly with regard to improving therapeutic interventions for patients.

Tasks:
- Assisting with or conducting animal experiments involving mice
- Caring for and monitoring mice (checking, weighing and feeding them)
- Assisting with blood collection and metabolic testing
- Independently performing laboratory work
- Cell culture work
- Histological analyses
- Molecular and biochemical analyses (e.g. Western blot and real-time PCR)
- Isolation of primary cells and mitochondria
Profile:
A completed master’s degree in a science subject, e.g. biotechnology, biomedicine, chemistry or a comparable field
Practical experience of standard techniques in protein chemistry and molecular biology
The ability to work well in a team and independently, with a precise and open work style, as well as organisational skills
A strong willingness to learn new skills
Desirable:
FELASA B certificate
Proficiency in data processing and word processing
English proficiency /Level B2)
An individual who is self-motivated, independent and team-oriented, with a knack for structured, detail-oriented work, and strong communication and teamwork skills
Interest in and willingness to take on new responsibilities
The motivation to contribute actively to the development of the project
