Stellenbeschreibung

Go beyond and create global impact: At Munich Re, we're proud to be one of the world's leading providers of reinsurance, primary insurance, and insurance-related risk solutions. Our group is made up of the reinsurance and ERGO business segments, along with our asset management company, MEAG. We operate globally and are active in all lines of the insurance business.
Since our founding in 1880, we've built a reputation for unrivalled risk-related expertise and a solid financial foundation. We use our strengths to support our clients' business goals and drive technological progress. We're also at the forefront of developing coverage for emerging risks, from rocket launches and renewable energy to cyber threats and artificial intelligence.
With around 44,000 people worldwide, our group's corporate culture is defined by performance, mutual respect, and trust. All this makes us an attractive employer providing global career development opportunities and prospects.
The Group Investment Management (GIM) division is responsible for managing the proprietary Munich Re and ERGO investment portfolio of ~€250bn. Within the business unit Investment Strategies of GIM, the department Alternative Investments is responsible for the alternative asset strategy as well as its implementation across Munich Re Group. This implies that based on the long-term strategic allocation (SAA) a granular alternatives strategy is built and regularly updated to account for the changes in the political/economic environment and movements in capital markets. The section unites experts for all our financial assets and new asset classes as well as portfolio overarching tasks within the broader Alternative Investment department GIM1.3.
Within this growing market environment, you strengthen the team as an Investment Manager within the Section „Financial Assets and Solutions" responsible for the asset class private credit. You will be focusing on strategy development and implementation in close collaboration with the senior investment manager and various other stakeholders. Additionally, you will be further enhancing the tools landscape to support the quantitative asset class portfolio steering.
Your Job

  • Asset class lead for private credit: responsible for the execution of the Alts private credit future portfolio build up and strategy evolution spanning the full private credit spectrum from IG to HY with a global portfolio scope
  • Second lead for the asset class private equity
  • Portfolio strategy development: research and monitoring of broad market developments, thematic deep dives, identification of new investment opportunities and related risk assessments aiming at translating your views into market driven capital market views presented in the Alts strategy process
  • End-to-end investment process ownership for private credit/equity funds in close collaboration with other internal units: project management and coordination of the decision making process for new investments spanning from opportunity assessment of single deals, companies or funds, performing credit-, single financial risk- and balance sheet KPI analysis, development of investment cases, accompaniment of due diligences, assessment of risk-return characteristics, ESG requirements and operational implementation and subsequent steering of chosen investment structures
  • Further Enhancement and development of the quantitative tool landscape with regards to planning-, steering- and monitoring tools of the alternatives portfolio
  • Becoming a facilitator between quantitative and market topics and assume responsibility for data related topics
  • Preparation of decisions on the realisation of specific investments for the top management and Alternative Investment Committee (AIIC)

Your Profile

  • Strong academic background (Master's degree)
  • Relevant experience in the asset class private credit or comparable asset classes
  • Familiarity with single deal analysis, single risks as well as credit risk analysis, credit modeling and private equity
  • Experience in other financial asset classes such as private equity funds
  • High macroeconomic, strategy and technical credit/risk understanding and profound knowledge of financial mathematics
  • Strong programming skills, especially in Python as well as familiarity with Databricks and Power BI
  • Outstanding analytical, strategic thinking, assertiveness and ability to work under pressure in the context of a demanding annual fund deployment funnel
  • High self-dependent working style/self-starter attitude, creativity and exceptional problem-solving competence with the ability and clear willingness to work in teams, helping colleagues or other assets classes in need and driving success as one team
  • High social competence, collaborative working style and emotional intelligence
  • Strong project management and execution skills
  • Strong stakeholder management abilities
  • Clear and convincing team-spirited communicator who is fluent in English. Good German proficiency is a plus.
