The University of Konstanz is a dynamic and internationally successful research university with approximately 10,000 students. The campus university’s architecture promotes interdisciplinary cooperation and a sense of community among researchers, lecturers and students. The University of Konstanz has been continuously funded by the German Excellence Strategy since 2006.

We are seeking a highly motivated Researcher and Augmented Reality Developer to join an ambitious research and development project focused on creating next-generation AR glasses as a medical device to improve visual orientation and spatial perception. The position combines applied research and engineering in AR. The research project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space together with the Dr. H.C. Eberle Foundation and is designed with the goal of establishing a startup company. This position offers the opportunity to work at the technological forefront of Augmented Reality systems and to contribute directly to the development of innovative assistive technologies with real-world medical impact, in an on-site working environment with startup mentality. The position is initially limited to one year; however, an extension is intended.

Your Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and development in the field of AR
  • Full Stack Development
  • Contribute to system architecture, performance optimization, and embedded system development
  • Develop rendering pipelines for real-time AR applications
  • Implement and optimize visual-inertial odometry (VIO) and spatial tracking algorithms
  • Participate in the transition from research prototype to product-oriented development
Your Competencies
  • University degree (Master or equivalent); interest in research and development
  • Strong programming skills in C++ or related low-level environments
  • Experience with rendering pipelines, or real-time systems
  • SLAM, VIO, computer vision, or sensor fusion
  • Familiarity with AR/VR platforms and embedded systems is a plus
