The Position
Are you passionate about leveraging cutting-edge molecular pathology technologies to advance biomedical research?
As a Scientist in the Molecular Pathology Laboratory, you will drive spatially resolved molecular pathology approaches to support target and biomarker validation in early research projects. Combining your expertise in tissue-based methodologies, spatial transcriptomics, and cross-functional collaboration, you will translate complex biological questions into robust experimental strategies and generate actionable insights that impact scientific discovery.
Join us and help shape the future of translational research. Apply now and make a difference with your expertise!
Tasks & responsibilities

  • In collaboration with colleagues, project teams and external partners you will develop, adapt, validate and implement molecular pathology and spatial transcriptomics approaches for target and biomarker validation.
  • You will contribute as project team member by translating biological and pathological questions into tissue-based experimental plans, study designs and data interpretation strategies.
  • Furthermore, you will be responsible for molecular pathology technologies such as spatial transcriptomics, in-situ hybridization (ISH), laser-capture microdissection (LCMD), image-based analysis and related transcriptomic readouts, and contribute to proteomic readouts through collaboration with internal expert teams.
  • You will coordinate experimental work, support data processing and ensure timely delivery of high-quality work packages for molecular pathology and spatial biology studies.
  • To this end, you will closely collaborate with Histopathology and Digital Image Analysis experts.
  • You will document, communicate and present scientific results, including data records, project progress summaries, presentations and publications.
  • Additionally, you will critically assess new spatial and molecular pathology technologies and help establish robust workflows for internal execution or external collaboration.

Requirements

  • PhD in molecular biology, biomedical sciences or a related discipline with relevant academic or industrial experience
  • Strong expertise in tissue-based biology, histology-focused analysis and interpretation of microscopy and expression data; a background with strong pathology exposure is highly beneficial
  • Hands-on experience with spatial transcriptomics technologies and their application in target biology, biomarker validation or disease-relevant tissue analysis is desired
  • Broad knowledge of tissue processing, including FFPE and fresh-frozen tissue, and experience with microscopy platforms such as slide scanners, brightfield or confocal microscopy
  • Expertise in the bioinformatic analysis of spatial or single cell gene expression datasets and basic knowledge in Python would be beneficial
  • Ability to work in cross-functional project teams, align experimental strategies with project needs and communicate scientific concepts clearly to multidisciplinary stakeholders
  • Excellent organization skills, scientific rigor and a collaborative working style as well as fluency in English, both written and spoken
