Secure and convenient login to the portal

The Federal Employment Agency offers you several secure login options:

For private individuals, companies and partners: login with a Federal Employment Agency account, i.e.

  • passkey or
  • user name/e-mail address in combination with a password and a second factor (TOTP)

For private individuals: login via the "BundID" ("Federal ID"), for example with your "ELSTER certificate", online ID (e.g. identity card) or your EU identity.

For companies: login via "My company account" based on "ELSTER" with the "ELSTER organisation certificate". Alternative login methods can also be set up, such as "ElsterSecure" or the "AusweisApp" (ID card app).

The login options are described in more detail below. On the login page, a selection wizard is available under "Finding the right account".

Information from the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) regarding the two-factor authentication

Tipp:The BSI also offers reliable information on the topic of "two-factor authentication". On the BSI page Gambling with security – secure your account with two-factor authentication, you will find a descriptive video that explains what its advantages are and how it works.

Federal Employment Agency account: login option for private individuals, companies and partners

The "Federal Employment Agency" login option offers two login alternatives. You can set up both and use them to log in to your account as you like.

Login with passkeys

With the “Passkey” technology, we offer you a particularly fast, convenient and secure two-factor login option. By setting up a passkey, you can, for example, use biometric procedures such as a fingerprint or a face scan to log in – provided you have a suitable device such as a smartphone. This new procedure fulfils the requirements of the BSI and replaces conventional passwords with digital keys.

For more information on passkeys, please visit the page Secure account login with Passkey.

Login with user name/e-mail address in combination with password and second factor

If you want to use your user name/e-mail address and password to log in, a second factor is additionally required for security reasons. The TOTP procedure (time-based one-time password) is used for this purpose. If you have not yet set up this procedure, you will be guided through the setup process. The TOTP procedure protects your data effectively, as in addition to your password, you will be asked to enter a code that is only valid for a short time. The code is generated via an authenticator app and is only valid for 30 seconds. This way, the password alone is useless for malware that spies on data.

Please make sure that you only download trustworthy apps. For example, you can use the search term "2FA app test" to find trustworthy apps for two-factor authentication.

For more information on logging in with a second factor, please visit the page Second factor for increased security.

The "BundID": login option for private individuals

The "BundID" ("Federal ID") is provided by the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) and is the federal government's central user account for private individuals. It is being offered by more and more authorities as a login option for administrative services, doing away with numerous individual accesses that would otherwise be necessary.

Logging in with the "BundID" is particularly secure as it uses an ELSTER certificate or an electronic means of identification (eID) with two components (factors).

Depending on which online service of the Employment Agency, the Job Centre or the Family Benefits Office you would like to use, the online service may require you to log in with your "BundID". For example, if you want to change your bank details or address.

For more information, please visit the page "BundID": secure access to all online services.

My company account: login option for companies

The Federal Employment Agency provides companies with "My company account" as another secure login option based on ELSTER.

"My company account" (available in German only) is provided by the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs for the purpose of using business-related administrative services.

To be able to use "My company account" to log in to the Federal Employment Agency portal, the following requirements must be met:

  1. An existing "My business account", typically with an ELSTER organisation certificate
  2. An existing account with the Federal Employment Agency. Your "My company account" must be set up once in this account.

Warnung:Note: If you have not yet set up your "My company account" in your Federal Employment Agency account, it is not possible to log in directly with "My company account".

For more information on setting up and logging in with "My company account", please visit the page Mein Unternehmenskonto: Anmeldeoption für Unternehmen (My company account: login option of companies – available in German only).
